Nashville Predators Sign Forward Mavrik Bourque to 6-Year Contract

The Nashville Predators have signed forward Mavrik Bourque to a 6-year contract with a salary cap hit of $5.5 million.

What happened?

The signing was announced by NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman on Saturday evening and later confirmed by the Predators on X.

The Predators acquired Bourque from the Dallas Stars in exchange for a 2027 2nd round pick and a 2028 3rd round pick.

Why it matters for Nashville Predators

Bourque's signing is a significant move for the Predators, who are looking to break their playoff drought after failing to qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs in each of the last two seasons.

The team currently stands 10th in the Western Conference with a 38-34 record, on a L2 streak, as of July 5, 2026.

What comes next?

With Bourque on board, the Predators will look to improve their performance and make a push for the playoffs.

Bourque was taken by the Stars in the opening round of the 2020 NHL Draft and has since made a name for himself in the American Hockey League and the NHL.

In his first two full seasons with the Texas Stars, he reached the 20-goal mark, and he eventually made his NHL debut with the Stars in 2023-24.

Bourque played in 73 games in 2024-25, scoring 11 goals with 14 assists, and tallied 20 goals with 21 assists in the 2025-26 season.

So far in his 156 career NHL games, Bourque has 31 goals and 36 assists for 67 points.

He's also added a goal in 10 career postseason games, showcasing his ability to perform under pressure.

The Predators' new general manager, Chris MacFarland, has been working to strengthen the team's roster, and Bourque's signing is a key part of this effort.

As the team looks to the future, they will be counting on Bourque to make significant contributions on the ice.

With his contract in place, Bourque will be a key player for the Predators for years to come.

The team's fans will be eager to see how he performs in the upcoming season, and whether he can help the Predators achieve their goal of making the playoffs.
