Nashville Predators Trade Alexandre Carrier to Canadiens

The Nashville Predators traded defenseman Alexandre Carrier to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for blueliner Justin Barron. Alexandre Carrier, a 28-year-old from Quebec City, had one goal and six assists in 28 games this season. He was selected by the Predators in the fourth round, 115th overall, of the 2015 NHL draft. Justin Barron, a 23-year-old from Halifax, Nova Scotia, produced 13 goals and 18 assists in 111 games with the Canadiens. He spent his time in Montreal split between the NHL and American Hockey League after arriving via trade from the Colorado Avalanche in 2022. The trade was announced Wednesday night, a little more than 24 hours before the NHL’s holiday roster freeze. And with this move, the Predators add a young defenseman to their roster. But what does this mean for their lineup? So far, Justin Barron has one goal in 17 NHL games this season. The Predators will likely look to integrate him into their system quickly. Alexandre Carrier totaled 11 goals and 58 assists in 245 games in Nashville. His departure will be felt, but the team is looking to the future with this trade.
